JAMES CAPPER PRESENTS HYDRA STEP & HYDRA SHUFFLE AT THE UNDERBELLY ARTS FESTIVAL
AUGUST 1 - 2, 2015
Paul Kasmin Gallery artist James Capper will present HYDRA STEP & HYDRA SHUFFLE, at the Underbelly Arts Festival located on Cuckatoo Island in Sydney, Australia from August 1 – 2, 2015
In step with the industrial nature of the Island is HYDRA STEP – a walking earth marker.
Able to precisely mark the ground and step over obstacles, climb gradients or slopes, James Capper’s monumental creations intelligently navigate the landscape.
Then there’s the HYDRA SHUFFLE, which never leaves the earth, instead using a caterpillar-like motion to excavate the ground.
These industrial objects interact with various terrains during performances, producing abstract compositions.
This project has been programmed in partnership with Hannah Barry Gallery, Peckham, and has been made possible with support from the Keir Foundation.
